Simbruini Mountains

Overall distance: 50 Km

Difficulty: Challenging

Road Fund: Asphalt

We begin our journey by pedaling to Piglio, the food and wine capital of Ciociaria, famous for Cesanese del Piglio wine. On the way to Arcinazzo, we will enjoy the vast green spaces, grazing animals and a cool climate. The Highlands of Arcinazzo, former residence of Emperor Trajan, offer us lush nature and a serene atmosphere.

In the Middle Ages, the Templars chose to reside in the majestic Trevi Castle in Lazio, amid monasticism and warrior skills. These noble knights prepared for life's challenges by mixing devotion and courage.

In the Simbruini Mountains Park, the "Fauna Area for Roe Deer" awaits us with hiking trails marked by the Aniene and Simbrivio rivers. The experience is suitable for all ages, and we will also be able to walk back to explore this natural wonder once again.

Descending toward Acuto, we pass through Fiuggi, a renowned European spa town. Hospitality here is first-rate, with hotels offering spa treatments and thermal pools. Acuto's historic core is adorned with medieval palaces and Art Nouveau buildings, while the Regina Pacis Church enchants us with its striking mosaics.

We cannot forget to mention the Ciambelline al vino or all'anice, a typical Ciociaria treat. And of course, in the enchantment of the mountains, a glass of Cesanese del Piglio is a must for the palate.

Saddle up, let's ride: a journey through nature, history and authentic flavors, in the beating heart of Ciociaria
